The latest exhibit in the “Art of War: Gifts of Peace” exhibit series kicked off Sept. 5 at the Johnson County Library’s Central Resource Library in Overland Park. The title of this new exhibit in the series is “Truth and Art.”

As part of the exhibit’s first night, the Johnson County Library Foundation and the CGSC Foundation hosted a reception from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Then, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Dr. Jim Willbanks, CGSC’s General of the Army George C. Marshall Chair of Military History, provided a special presentation on “Truth and Vietnam.” Willbanks is an internationally recognized expert on the Vietnam War and spoke of his own personal experiences in combat in Vietnam and then later during visits to conduct research.

The exhibit will remain at the Central Resource Library through November. It will be moved to the Gardner Library (137 East Shawnee St., Gardner KS) and be on display from Dec. 1 through Feb. 28, 2018; then moved to the Shawnee Library (13811 Johnson Dr., Shawnee KS) from March 1- April 30, 2018.

The “Art of War: Gifts of Peace” exhibit series is part of the CGSC Foundation’s “Art of War Initiative,” a project designed to preserve, promote, and protect the life and longevity of the CGSC collection. For more information about the initiative visit our About pages.
